Despite Donald Trump’s constant China-bashing, the Chinese government prefers the GOP presidential nominee over Hillary Clinton, China expert Leland Miller told CNBC on Wednesday.

“Hillary is a known [quantity] and they don’t like her,” said the chief executive of China Beige Book International, an analytics firm devoted to conducting research into the world’s second-largest economy.

“Donald is threatening a trade war. That wouldn’t be good,” Miller acknowledged during an interview on “Squawk Box.” “But at the same time, some of the other things he’s said [such as] let’s tear down the post-war security structure in Asia, limit our [trade] relationship with Japan and Korea, … this is music to the Chinese ears.”
